Introduction

About DaNet organised Ph.D. courses
The courses listed below are developed as a networking activity within DaNet and supported jointly by the Danish Ministry of Technology, Science and Development and the Danish Ministry of Agriculture. The funding programme is Sustainable Technology in Agriculture. The courses have been planned in collaboration with The Dina Research School and NORBE, the Nordic School for Biosystems Engineering.

Two levels of courses have been organised, topic specific courses for non-specialists who need knowledge outside their own field of specialisation and specialist courses for participants who seek state-of-the art knowledge in a topic within their own field.

Registration
Registration is done via a registration form that can be found on the individual course descriptions.

Certificate of participation
A course certificate will be issued to participants who participate in the course and pass the evaluation. The course organiser and lecturer(s) responsible for the evaluation will sign the course certificate.

Members of Sustainable Technology Research Projects can participate without fees. Other participants pay a course fee of DKR 1000 per ECTS workload of the course. The ECTS workload for each course is listed in the course information sheet.

Topic specific courses
These courses aim at introducing non-specialists to a topic that is relevant for research in the inter-disciplinary area between technical-sciences and agricultural sciences. These courses aim at providing the participant an understanding of a topic and ability to collaborate efficiently with experts in the field. The course will introduce to accepted practice within the topic and give the participant an ability to work with main concepts and methodologies. Topic specific courses will typically comprise
• Present an overview of the topic
• Introduce commonly accepted theory and methods within the area
• Have exercises to give participants a working ability with simpler problems in the area

Evaluation in the form of exercises and/or a brief report should demonstrate that the participant is familiar with how relevant methods and theory are applied.

Specialist courses
These courses aim at an audience of Ph.D. students and researchers who specialise within the topic of the course. The specialist course aim at providing advanced knowledge that will make participants able to work in the frontier of a field. Specialist courses will typically comprise
• Overview of the state of the art in theory and methodology
• Recent progress within the area
• Trends in research
• Exercises at a graduate level to make participants understand relevant theory and methodology

Evaluation in the form of a brief report should demonstrate that the participant is familiar with main concepts in theory and methodology in the area. The report should also hint to how the acquired knowledge could be used in the participant’s own research.
