Robotic Weeding

The vision of the project is to develop new weeding measures that can reduce the manual weeding effort in organic vegetables and beets by 50-100% and reduce herbicide use in conventional grown row crops by 75-100%. The goal of this proposal is to establish knowledge of advanced technology for robotic weeding between crop plants. The research object will be a hybrid system, which integrates:

High-precision seed mapping,

Computer vision for plant recognition

Advanced tools for weed removal/control.

The basis for achieving the goal exists through the expertise of the participating institutions and the results obtained in national and international research projects on high-precision navigation and seeding with RTK-GPS, computer vision for plant recognition and new tools for weed control.
